Hua Hin
Hua Hin is a small town but a major resort in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, some 35km (22mi) south of Cha-am and 90km north of the town of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
At Km marker 232 of Highway 35 from Bangkok, there is a 2km (1.25mi) branch road to the left leading to Hua Hin Beach. While Pattaya and Phuket are resorts which chiefly attract foreign tourists, Hua Hin is distinctively a Thai destination. For decades it has been a preferred holiday spot of the Thai Royal family.
Sports
Royal Hua Hin Golf Course 6,654 yards, par 72 Opened in 1924, making it Thailand’s oldest public course, the facility in Hua Hin has a natural, rolling layout which is just as testing today as it was almost 70 years ago. Each hole has its own special characteristics, with the novelty of fairway trees carved into the form of birds and other animals. Recently taken over by Boonrawd Brewery, the makers of Singha Beer, Royal Hua Hin has regained its position as one of the country’s top courses. Hua Hin Klai Kangwon Palace
King Phra Pokklao (Rama VII, reigned 1925-1935) commanded the construction of this palace, 3km (2mi) from Hua Hin. A permit must be obtained from the Royal Household Office prior to a visit.
Khao Tao
This is a hill near Hua Hin with two beautiful beaches nearby, Hat Sai Noi and Hat Sai Yai.
Sea Pine Tree Garden
This garden, 8km (5mi) from Hua Hin, was formerly named Pradiphat Garden Convalescence and Relaxation Area. The administration is under the Army Welfare Office. There are food shops and public accommodations. Details may be obtained by calling Tel (032) 51-1239 to 40.

Bangkok - Hua Hin
Bangkok Airways has one flight daily from Bangkok to Hua Hin. Departure is in the late afternoon. While departure times might change every 6 months, the changes are likely to be minimal while the frequency is basically maintained. Flight time is 25min. Trains for various Southern destinations, all stopping at Hua Hin, depart from Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong Station at 9:00 (arr 13:10), 12:35 (arr 16:17), 13:40 (arr 18:24), 14:00 (arr 17:38), 15:15 (arr 18:54), 16:00 (arr 19:49), 17:30 (arr 21:05), 18:30 (arr 22:08), 19:20 (arr 22:56) and 21:55 (arr 0:55). Fares (excluding charges for rapid, express trains or aircon) are 44 Baht for 3rd class, 92 Baht for 2nd class and 182 Baht for 1st class. The rail distance is 229km. Hua Hin - Bangkok
Bangkok Airways has one flight daily from Hua Hin to Bangkok. Departure is in the late afternoon. Flight time is 25min. Trains from various Southern destinations or starting in Hua Hin depart for Bangkok at 1:28 (arr 5:10), 2:10 (arr 5:50), 2:28 (arr 6:10), 2:48 (arr 6:35), 3:24 (arr 7:05), 4:54 (arr 8:35), 6:06 (arr 10:00), 6:21 (arr 10:50), 14:30 (arr 18:50) and 16:39 (arr 20:00).
Khao Ta-Kiap
Ta-Kiap Hill is 4km (2.5mi) from Hua Hin at the seashore. Next to it is Khao Krailat (Krailat Hill). A bus running along the seashore connects Hua Hin and Khao Ta-Kiap. It is easy to get to the top of Khao Ta-Kiap; it’s a bit cooler there and one has a nice view of the coastline.
Cha-am
Cha-am is a small town in Petchburi Province, some 45km (28mi) south of the town of Petchburi. It is famous for its beach as has a lot of tourist infrastructure.
Places of Interest
Phra Ratchaniwet Marukkha Thayawan This palace between Cha-am and Hua Hin was used by King Rama VI (Vajiravudh, reigned 1910-1925) as a holiday accommodation during summer time. Now pretty deteriorated, it is cared for by the Border Patrol Police.
